The Block – In : is the simplified two dimensional shape of the model. It is as if the three dimensional model we see posing had been photocopied, cutout, and pasted onto the surface of the paper.
- It is constructed of line segments that connect points located along the outline of the figure to form an irregular, angular, geometric shape.
- It is intended to help us seeing the actual shape of the model to move us away from past inclinations and ideas that prevent us from seeing, muchless drawing the actual model.
- The Envelop = is a general estimate as to the shape of the whole pose. It is a large, simple shape constructed of no more of six lines. The points to which the lines connect correspond to the most outwardly protecting point on the figure. The drawing develops inside it.
